Le Blues Du Blanc

I was born on the banks of False River, an oxbow lake that was the main channel of the Mississippi River until 1722 when the river had changed course about the same time the first Frenchman settled in Pointe Coupee. The parish was named after this new reality. Pointe Coupee means Cut Point in english. Buddy Guy was also born in Pointe Coupee about 10 miles up the road and as a young man trained horses on the same property I did. In the 70's we had a local band named Funks Hybrid, after a cap for a fertilizer brand at the local feedstore. Those boys were damn good I always wished I could sing with them. They were the original real deal swamp rock funk.

We all grew up in the same soup with the same rhythms running around in our heads. We all listened to what was coming out of New Orleans back in the 60's. My first memories of music are from the floor as a toddler in front of my grandmothers big wooden cabinet bass thumping record player radio. You could feel that bass thumping in your body, Walking to New Orleans and Blueberry Hill. As musicians we all take it in and find our own wave to flow with. I hope you enjoy mine.

Le Blues Du Blanc Down The Bayou

I have released the three demos below as “Le Blues Du Blanc Down the Bayou”. I'm just starting down the road of sharing my music. Definitely a learning process. At this stage all songs available here are still demos consisting of my guitar and my voice. I'm always hearing what I want to correct in the song and it's a real struggle to not allow my perfectionism to stand in the way of sharing my music. The changes will happen in the studio sessions in New Orleans. So when you listen to these and and you hear the occasional blip or finger fumble it's all part of the process. As this web page and my music evolves I will be sharing stories of the songs and how they fit in the tapestry of my family and unique slice of Louisiana French culture.  I want us all to pass a good time as we dance down the bayou.
